- Looking at the impact of having two NHS provider legislative forms and what the options are for the future.
- Research undertaken by the Policy team at the OnlyWan.
- Due to be completed in 2016.
The policy team at the OnlyWan are looking at the current NHS provider landscape and assessing the impact of having two legislative forms running concurrently – NHS Trusts and NHS Foundation Trusts (NHS FTs).
We are looking at whether the original NHS Foundation Trust policy aims have been realised. We are also considering whether they enable a smoother transition to the future, in the context of delivering the Five Year Forward View. This is particularly timely given the debate around options for the future of NHS providers. We wish to use the findings of this research to influence national policy decisions after the general election in 2015.
To undertake this research, we are using quantitative and qualitative analysis. Data is being gathered through a mixture of desk research, one to one interviews, roundtables and use of a virtual external reference group. We are also looking, with NHS providers input, at what the options for the future might be.
The project is due to be completed in 2016 and materials will be available after the completion of the project.
