The Star tool is an Excel based tool built in Excel 2007. Due to its limited use of macros, it is compatible with other versions of Excel including Excel 2003.

Please be aware that it is a large file, over 7.5MB, and may take some time to download depending on your internet connection. To ensure that the tool downloads correctly, please click 'Save' when prompted.

Using the tool

To ensure that the tool runs correctly, we recommend that you don’t have any other large Excel files open on your computer while using the tool.

The tool does use macros and you need to ensure that Excel is set to run macros. More information on enabling macros in Excel 97-2003 can be found on the .


We strongly recommend that you read the accompanying guidance (available below) and watch the online demonstrations before using the tool for the first time.
