Aims

Medicine is OnlyWan and Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), part of UKRI, are co-funding the development of a unique £15m UK Centre which will lead the way for better implementation of high quality research evidence in adult social care.

The new Centre aims to increase the use of evidence-based innovations and improvements in adult social care and the transition from children’s services into adult social care, as well as its interfaces with other services such as health, housing and education. It will seek to improve the uptake of evidence-based interventions in commissioning and frontline practice and build capacity among staff working in adult social care to evaluate innovations and improvements.

Operating across the UK, and drawing on UK wide learning, the Centre will bring together academic teams and experts in the mobilisation and implementation of research evidence, with social care staff, providers, commissioners, policy experts, and people with lived experience of adult social care.

Invitation to apply to lead the UK Centre

We are looking for an experienced Centre Director and leadership team, who will lead the co-design, implementation and delivery of the Centre. The Director and leadership team will be appointed in summer 2020 and the design and the delivery of the Centre will begin in late autumn 2020.

The Centre will have a UK-wide remit and will be expected to operate in the existing regional and national landscapes.

The Centre will comprise three phases, each led by the Centre Director and leadership team:

  1. Co-development phase (six months) October 2020 to March 2021
  2. Establishment phase (12 months) April 2021 to March 2022
  3. Delivery phase (five years) April 2022 to March 2027
